The 6th INAFOR 2021 – Stream 5 : Cutting COVID-19 Transmission, Handling Health and Economic Impacts

Background

The coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic is the ongoing worldwide pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which have spread to the world and declared as an international public health emergency by the World Health Organization. The global outbreak of COVID-19 is affecting every part of human lives, including the economic development, social activities, environment and forestry. Positive and negative impacts have also emerged due to this pandemic, especially on the environment and forestry.

In relation to ecological and forestry sector several biological resources and biodiversity taken from forests have also been used for herbal medicines to treat the diseases caused by this corona virus and increase the community’s economic by promoting small industries. Meanwhile, the pandemic situation raises some negative consequences of COVID-19 on economic, social, and environment such as forest dependent communities, forest restoration, and forest community resilience. In the contrary, there are also significantly improves ecosystem which may assist with the ecotourism based on technology and innovation of forest ecological system. This good environmental quality can be used to stop the transmission of the corona virus through nature forest tourism with attention to health protocol.

Hence, by this international conference, hoped that outlines the possible ways to cut down the Covid-19 transmission, to treat the disease and achieve long-term forest and environmental benefits to increase the global economic. It is expected that the proper implementation of the integrated research and development on forest and environment from many countries, might be helpful to protect the world from pandemic.

Objective

To explore the impacts and the potential of environmental and forest resources to handle Covid-19 pandemic through sharing, discussing across researchers, scientists, and other relevant stakeholders from international perspectives.

Participant

Researchers, experts, universities, international organizations, and other institutions from many backgrounds from many countries.

Output

  • Increase the forest and environment role in cutting COVID-19 transmission, handling those economic impacts particularly for marginal group, preventing spread of COVID-19, producing nature/forest medicine for COVID-19, initiating vaccine, developing COVID-19 protocol, and relevant matters.
  • Encourage the collaboration research and development among researchers and experts across the countries to handle the Covid-19.

 

CONFERENCE THEMES

How to cutting COVID-19 transmission and handling those economic impacts particularly for marginal group (preventing spread of COVID-19, producing nature/forest medicine for COVID-19, initiating vaccine, developing COVID-19 protocol, and relevant matters.

The program will be organized along the following themes:

  1. Potential of forest resources to cutting COVID-19 transmission, and handling health
  • Capability of forest ecology and biodiversity resources to combat Covid-19;
  • Development of essential oil for handling health due to covid-19;
  • Bioprospecting for Covid-19 anti-virus;
  1. Economic, social, and environment impacts of Covid-19 pandemic
  • Assess the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on forest dependent communities, forest restoration, and forest community resilience;
  • The development of ecotourism in the covid-19 pandemic era
  • The impact of Covid-19 in the environment and technology innovation

Paper Selection and Peer Review

All submitted papers are subject to strict peer-review process by at least a peer reviewer and editor that are experts in the area of the particular paper. Further review will be undertaken after presentation for accommodating any additional information from audience.

STRUCTURE, TIME, VENUE & PARTICIPANTS

The conference would be convened on combination   virtual and real room events. The virtual   platform would be broadcasted from FORDA Jakarta Office. The conference would be running at 3 pathways: 1) discussion at plenary and also parallel session 2) exhibition and virtual tours, and 3) photo/video competition.

Registered papers/abstracts which presented would be considering to proceed published at Indonesian Journal of Forestry Research-IJFR which has been indexed by Scopus. The organizer committee also offer to publish the registered papers.

The conference also inviting partners to held side events in terms with the streamline topics. A digital experiences would also be involved during the meeting. There also invite to bilateral meeting and other negotiation towards potential collaboration on forest and environment

The 6th INAFOR  2021 will be convened on 7-8 September 2021, at Manggala Wanabhakti Building, Jakarta Indonesia and Forestry and Environment Research, Development and Innovation Agency (FORDA) Campus, Bogor, Indonesia, also FORDA sites office in provinces.

The INAFOR 2021 will arrange collaborations across researcher, institutions, and governments. Audience may have the governments, policy makers, practitioners, academia, experts, youth, gender, journalists, for approximately 3,000 participants, either virtual pathway or real room meetings.
